MGMT 625 - Non-Profit Management for the Arts & Culture Sectors Globally, the creative economy is growing faster than many other economic sectors, providing a livelihood and opportunities to both practitioners and arts administrators while inspiring audiences, communities, and patrons through digital and in-person encounters. This course introduces students to the history and practice of non-profit management, focusing on the arts and culture sector. We will explore how and why this sector developed, how it is organized, supported, and funded, and whom it serves. Using diverse case studies, students will think critically about what constitutes success for non-profit arts and culture organizations and will investigate the ethical, legal, and practical challenges they face, especially when compared to their for-profit counterparts.
