Schooling in Modern Society - 20053

This two-course connection is based on common themes explored in courses in History and Education:  HIST 337   and either EDUC 250   or EDUC 270   The Education courses explore issues of equality and access to education, with EDUC 250 using primarily a historical lens and EDUC 270 a current perspective.  All three courses explore issues of racial, gender, and other forms of inequality and our society’s attempts at redress through education and other realms. The courses connect students to pressing issues in the past and in the present. Students taking these classes will be able to see seminal issues in our history from multiple and important points of view.
