Criminal Justice, Restorative Justice, and Criminology Major

Major requirements

Twenty credits in: 

• CJ 101 Introduction to Criminal Justice Studies  
• CJ 300 Criminal Justice Ethics  
• CJ 401 Capstone  
• SOC 111 Introduction to Criminology  
• SOC 210 Inequality and Social Justice  

Four credits in research methods chosen from: 

• POLS 200 Introduction to Research Methods  
• PSY 202 Quantitative Research Methods  
• SOC 202 Research Methods in Sociology  

Sixteen credits in elective courses as outlined below:

Students must choose eight credits from Group A and eight credits from Group B.  At least eight elective credits need to be at the 300+ level.

Group A:

• CHEM 102 Forensic Science  
• CJ 250 Juvenile Justice  
• CJ 330 Courts and Corrections  
• CJ 350 Restorative Justice  
• POLS 245 Politics and Policing  
• One of the following law courses:
  • PHIL 265 Philosophy of Law  
  • PSY 328 Psychology and Law  
  • SOC 322 Sociology of Law    

Group B: 

• ANTH 246 Imagining a Just World through Action  
• CJ 298 Experimental Course   (refer to the course schedule for semester offerings)
• CJ 398 Experimental Course  (refer to the course schedule for semester offerings)
• CJ 399 Independent Study  
• PSY 247 Abnormal Psychology  
• SOC 104 Contemporary Social Problems
