CW 388 - Advanced Playwriting

After writing one or two short plays in CW 288, this course gives you the opportunity to begin writing a play in the first weeks of the semester based on prompts that bring forward your most pressing ideas, imaginings, and/or concerns. While writing prompts will always be available to you if needed, focus in this course shifts to an ongoing discussion of individual creative process as you develop, shape, and refine your content in the interest of energizing the dynamics of each scene. Plays written in this course will be included in the annual spring New Plays Festival and readings of a wide variety of contemporary plays will supplement sharing of new scenes each week in class.
