German Studies Major

In this major students pursue interdisciplinary studies in a number of fields that relate directly to German; it does not require as much proficiency in the language as does our German major. Students construct their own program of 10 courses: six within the German Department and, with departmental approval, four in other disciplines.

Major requirements
The major in German Studies consists of a minimum of 10 credits. Of these, 2 must be at the 300-level or higher. German Department
- At least FIVE courses within the German Department. Of these, at least TWO must be at or above the 300-level
- AND Senior Seminar GER 401
Any Department
- Up to FOUR courses from other Departments, selected in consultation with the German Department advisor
Note:
If a First Year Experience is offered by the German Department, it may be counted toward the major. Students are also encouraged to pursue double majors with other programs, such as Business/Management, International Relations or History. |
