German Studies Major
|
|
Return to: Programs by Department
In this major students pursue interdisciplinary studies in a number of fields that relate directly to German; it does not require as much proficiency in the language as does our German major. Students construct their own program of 10 courses: six within the German Department and, with departmental approval, four in other disciplines.
|
Major requirements
The major in German Studies consists of a minimum of 10 credits. Of these, 4 must be at the 300-level or higher.
German Department
- Four courses at any level
- At least two courses at the 300-level
- Senior Seminar GER 401
Any Department
- Up to Four courses from other Departments, selected in consultation with German Department advisor
Note:
Students are strongly encouraged to go abroad on our Wheaton-in-Germany Program at the University of Regensburg. If a First Year Seminar is offered by the German Department, it may be counted toward the major. The students are also encouraged to pursue double majors with other programs, such as International Relations or History.
