The major program in history requires a minimum of 40 credits. Students must choose between a concentration in United States or European History. History majors and minors may include ONE “P” (Grade/Pass/Fail) course at the 100- or 200-level (not at the 300-level or above) toward their major and minor requirements.

Twenty credits in an area of concentration: United States or Europe
At least eight credits must be at the 300-level or above and taken at Wheaton. Four credits from the other area of concentration
Four credits in East Asian courses chosen from:
Four credits in African, Latin American, or Caribbean History courses chosen from:
Four credit Junior colloquium:
This course is normally taken during the first semester of junior year and must be taken by the first semester of the senior year. Those on leave of absence or approved study at another institution may, with the instructor’s or department chair’s approval, take the course in the first semester of the sophomore year. Four credit Senior Seminar:
This is a capstone course that is taken during the senior year. HIST 302 is a prerequisite for HIST 401. |
