Major requirements

The major consists of a minimum of 36 credits. Of these, at least three need to be at the 300-level or above. Exceptions may be approved by the Department.

RUSS 282 - Russian Film
RUSS 284 - Women in Russian Culture

RUSS 384 - Women in Russian Culture Advanced
RUSS 285 - Russian Jewish Culture
RUSS 287 - Russia’s East: Literature and Culture
or
RUSS 387 - Russia’s East: Literature and Culture Advanced
RUSS 343 - Advanced Russian: Grammar, History, Politics *
* RUSS 343 may count for either a language course or a culture course, but not both.

Senior Seminar or Capstone

Students may take one of the two courses below, or a 300-level course in the Russian language, such as RUSS 343, RUSS 351, RUSS 352, or RUSS 370, or a RUSS 399 approved by the Department.

Notes

With permission of the department, the Senior Seminar can be replaced with another equivalent capstone experience, as long as the student has taken a minimum of nine courses. A capstone experience is required of all Wheaton students and may be accomplished through course work, research or other projects.
