MATH 298 - Modeling and Simulation in R Complex systems like the stock market, communications networks, and healthcare systems are usually subject to randomness. This course introduces techniques for modeling random processes and simulating them using the R programming language. Topics include pseudo-random number generation, simulating discrete random variables, the acceptance-rejection method for generating continuous random variables, introduction to Poisson processes and queueing systems.
Prerequisites MATH 101 , MATH 151 or COMP 115
