POLS 333 - Popular Movements and Religious Sentiment in the Americas Religious sentiment and popular social movements in the Americas. A study of religious sentiment in the Western tradition and how different conceptions of divinity have influenced contemporary social movements. The course examines both defensive working-class movements (the Christian identity movement; white supremacists and citizen militias) and groups focused on popular empowerment (the civil rights movement; liberation theology and participatory action-research).
