HIST 214 - European Military History An introduction to the history of war and the armed forces in Europe. We will begin in the 1400s with the technological and tactical developments that led to “modern warfare.” We will discuss the development of 18th-century military states such as Prussia; the 19th-century “people’s army” of Napoleon; the impact of the Industrial Revolution on European warfare, and the development of new military technology. The course will end with an in-depth examination of the First and Second World Wars.
