ENG 349 - Harlem Renaissance and Modernity An important period for artists in North America, Europe, Africa and the Caribbean, the Harlem Renaissance (1919-1940) was also a chronicle of social and political dynamics such as uplift philanthropy and migration. This course examines its emergence as a distinctive current of black literature and arts in the modern world.
