EDUC 240 - Multiple Perspectives on Literacy Multiple Perspectives on Literacy focuses on educational theory and practice to encourage students to reconceptualize the roles of teachers and learners. Sociocultural contexts and the intersection of home, community, and school form the foundation of this course. Students explore critical pedagogy, the importance of educators’ cultural competence, racial identity, and the relationship between schools and social justice. Students also plan a number of standards-based lessons and are introduced to components of the Massachusetts Professional Standards for Teachers (Curriculum, Planning and Assessment.
