HIST 398 - Queens, Witches, and Whores Narratives about medieval and early modern European women typically consider wives, mothers, and widows and emphasize female powerlessness. This course investigates women, such as Joan of Arc, Queen Elizabeth I, and alleged witches, who wielded their own authority. At semester’s end, students will research and write a final project.
