CHEM 198 - Intro to Chemistry for Nursing

This course covers the fundamentals of general, organic and biochemistry needed for nursing students. General chemistry topics include units and unit conversion, naming, ionic and covalent bonding and acids and bases. Organic chemistry topics include functional groups, reaction basics and structure of molecules such as sugars, amino acids and nucleic acids. Biochemistry topics include structure and function of important biomolecules such as proteins, carbohydrates, lipids and DNA. Three hours of lecture and three hours of laboratory work per week.
