ESCI 230 - Environmental Chemistry and Toxicology Environmental Chemistry and Toxicology provides an understanding of the chemical and physical processes that control the distribution, transformation and fate of substances in natural environments. It explores the chemical controls on environmental problems including ocean acidification, ozone depletion, and global warming. It also introduces environmental toxicology, investigating topics such as classes of environmental contaminants, persistence, bioaccumulation, and impacts of exposure on wildlife and humans. Students will delve into the primary environmental chemistry literature and carry group projects in which they propose safer alternatives to commonly used toxic substances.
