PSY 234 - Queer and Trans Psychology and Health This course will explore psychology and public health among queer and trans people, including those who are Two-Spirit, lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersex, asexual, and other sexual- and gender-expansive (2S/LGBTQIA+) identities. Following an introduction to the rich diversity of 2S/LGBTQIA+ populations, we will explore theories and methods of knowledge production—both scholarly and community-driven—around 2S/LGBTQIA+ psychology and health. We will discuss salient issues among 2S/LGBTQIA+ communities, including identity formation, community building, gender-affirming care, and healthcare institutions. Students will develop necessary skills to critically engage with and imagine future directions for queer and trans psychology and public health work.
