EDUC 290 - Transformative Social and Emotional Learning

This course will provide a thorough introduction to social and emotional learning (SEL), through a lens that emphasizes the transformation of inequitable systems and the promotion of justice-oriented civic engagement. The course is designed especially for those considering or preparing for a career in education. It will introduce the five core SEL competencies and engage students in self-reflection on their own social and emotional development, as well as go into methods for teaching SEL to K-12 learners and how classroom teachers can support K-12 students in becoming change-makers.
