PHIL 321 - Contemporary Social, Political and Legal Philosophy A seminar on important recent work in social, political and legal philosophy. Our central questions may include: How do structural injustices reproduce themselves, and how can we effectively resist them? Given current U.S. constitutional interpretation, what are the realistic pathways for achieving racial and gender justice? How should we navigate the moral and legal complexities of consent and use it as a tool for feminist liberation? Are the state and law highly limited in their ability to deal with structural oppression? Do social movements have the power to change society where other alternatives have failed?
Prerequisites One course in Philosophy; PHIL 121 Justice is highly recommended.
