CHEM 305 - Principles of Biochemistry Lecture

The chemistry and metabolism of biological molecules. Students will learn about the structure, function and metabolism of proteins, carbohydrates, fats, and nucleic acids. Thermodynamics and enzyme-mediated catalysis will also be addressed, with an emphasis on how reaction rates and energetics affect biological processes and pathways. Three hours lecture per week.

Prerequisites
CHEM 253 and either of the following: BIO 211 or BIO 221
