Topics include cell biology of neurons, neuron growth, motor proteins and the cytoskeleton, physiology of excitable membranes and biological circuits. Research utilizes live neurons from non-human animals and live human neurons derived from stem-cells. Part of the LEAPS in Stem Cell Research, the course emphasizes experimental methods and includes tissue culture and microscopy. Three hours lecture, three hours laboratory per week.
