BIO 324 - Neurobiology Cellular and molecular mechanisms of neuron and nervous system function learned through hands-on research. Topics include cell biology of neurons, neuron growth, motor proteins and the cytoskeleton, physiology of excitable membranes and biological circuits. Research utilizes live neurons from non-human animals and live human neurons derived from stem-cells. Part of the LEAPS in Stem Cell Research, the course emphasizes experimental methods and includes tissue culture and microscopy. Three hours lecture, three hours laboratory per week.
Prerequisites BIO 114 or AP/IB Biology credit and any one of the following: BIO 211 or BIO 221 or BIO 226 or BIO 254 or Permission of Instructor.

Notes A lab section must be selected with lecture. This course is open to Sophomores, Juniors and Seniors.
