BIO 317 - Molecular Ecology and Evolution An introduction to the concepts and issues in molecular evolution and the emerging field of molecular ecology. Course emphasizes the unique insights provided by the application of molecular methods to questions in ecology and evolution. Topics include rates and processes of molecular evolution, phylogenetic systematics, phylogeography, population genetics, forensics and conservation genetics. Three hours lecture and three hours laboratory per week.
Prerequisites Any 200-level Biology course (BIO 211 Genetics strongly recommended) or Permission of Instructor.
Credits 4
Notes This course is open to Sophomores, Juniors and Seniors.
