CHEM 298 - Environmental Field Methods This course will focus on fundamental methods for sampling and chemically analyzing natural samples, including water, ice, rocks, soils, and organic material. We will examine several straightforward, but challenging environmental questions, perform background research, and develop and carry out a research plan. Topics covered will include proper chain of custody, and technique choice based on projected outcome. Results will be presented at the end of the semester. Skills learned in this course should serve students well in future internships.
