PSY 349 - The Development of Thinking This course will cover the cognitive aspects of thinking from early childhood through adolescence. Broadly, we will examine reasoning and comprehension processes. There will be an emphasis on cognitive monitoring particularly how individuals regulate and reflect on their own thinking. Additionally, this course will explore the real world implications when considering various stages of cognitive and social cognitive development. We will cover the theories and research findings related to these topics as well as work to further understand reasoning and critical thinking skills during early development.
Prerequisites Prerequisites: at least one psychology course (cross listed courses also accepted). This course is open to juniors and seniors.
