DES 298 - Introduction to Scientific Illustration This course provides an overview of scientific illustration from accurate diagrammatic representations to creatively persuasive celebrations of nature’s beauty. With a goal of visually communicating scientific information, you’ll create informative compositions conveying nuances of anatomy and function with development of form through highlights and shading. Working from live and preserved material including plants, insects, and preserved specimens, you’ll learn to really see biological specimens, planning illustrations in stages from composition and sketch creation to final renderings in a range of artistic media.
