BIO 340 - Principles of Cancer Biology In this course, we will explore the molecular and biological underpinnings of cancer and cancer therapeutics. Topics will include oncogenes and tumor suppressor genes, apoptosis, angiogenesis, and specific cellular pathways that are activated or inactivated during tumorigenesis. We will also discuss traditional cancer treatments, such as chemotherapy and radiation, and contrast them with more recent treatments that target specific mutations or utilize immunotherapy. This course counts as a BIO 300 lecture in the Molecules/Genes area, as a 300 level Biology elective in the Neuroscience major, and fulfills the Biochemistry major BIO 300 requirement.
