CW 280 - Editing

This engaging course delves into copyediting and developmental editing fundamentals through project-based learning. Weekly assignments will hone concrete copyediting skills within a semester-long project that fosters a developmental editor’s mindset. This approach can lead to creative projects like editing famous paintings, clothing, novel chapters, or TikTok videos. Students will identify the creator’s goals, assess their achievement, edit the chosen piece, and justify their changes to enhance the work. This innovative editing approach highlights the shared goal of enhancing readability in both copyediting and developmental editing, allowing students to discover their preferences and strengths.
