BIO 213 - Principles of Cell Biology Cells are exquisitely complex, self-sustaining little organisms which live as autonomous beings or as specialized and dependent living parts of larger organisms. Principles of Cell Biology explores the fundamental and seemingly magical processes that all life forms share at the cell level. Using videos, active classroom activities, bonus lab opportunities, and paper and book readings including The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks by Rebecca Skloot, we will learn about the organization, functions, and cells, and about the therapeutic potential and the social justice challenges inherent in biomedical cell biology research.
Prerequisites BIO 114 or AP/IB credit.
BIO 111 or BIO 112 also accepted for students who entered Wheaton prior to Fall 2021.
