BIO 398 - Ecology of Infectious Diseases This course is designed to introduce you to infectious diseases, the parasites that cause them and how the interactions between parasites, hosts and their environment contributes to disease persistence and spread. We will narrow our focus on neglected tropical diseases (NTDs) with an emphasis on parasite ecology, reproduction, genetics and evolution. This course will heavily emphasize collaborative group work such as the design and development of strategies for mitigating disease outbreaks along with critical analysis of published scientific research. Taken together this course is designed to give you an appreciation for infectious disease research and its interdisciplinary nature.
