HISP 283 - Cultures of Globalization The Postcolonial Global South is the location of theoretical production and artistic expression that challenges the assumptions of western epistemologies. This class will examine what intellectuals, artists, and authors have said about culture vis-à-vis the historical consequences of colonization and world systems that place the Global South in the margins. Some of the key concepts this class will discuss are: Indigenous cultures, imperialism, nation building, neoliberalism, subaltern groups, and forms of resistance. This class focuses on some of the foundational texts and theories of Cultural Studies from the Global South.
