ARTH 122 - Introduction to Modern Art in Europe

This course provides a survey of modern art, from its origins during the French Revolution to WWII. Our approach will prioritize the political context and ideological impact of a select group of paintings and sculptures. Although our focus will be on Europe, we also consider how artists found inspiration in other cultures and events beyond their immediate borders.
