PHIL 121 - Faces of Injustice What makes a society just or unjust? When is it permissible for the state to coerce its citizens? Are Black Americans owed reparations for slavery? Is the value of equality about the distribution of goods or a relationship between people? How should we deal with the gendered division of caregiving and occupational labor? Do states have a right to control their borders and to refuse entry to immigrants? How should we resist structural and intersectional injustice? We address these and other crucial questions in this introduction to social and political philosophy.
