DMC 331 - Digital Culture Designed for students with a wide range of interests in print and visual media, this course explores the various ways in which the new communication technologies and the digitization of culture impacts issues such as representation, textuality, narrative, interpretation and the production of cultural meaning. Sample topics of inquiry include: the future of print, film and television in the age of trans-media entertainment; Digital Humanities; intellectual property rights vs. open-access and the digital commons; social media and online communities; the impact of ethnic and community media and global Internet culture on language, race and citizenship.
