PHIL 121 - Citizen and Society

What is a just distribution of rights, opportunities, and wealth? Does social justice require equality? Is taxation a form of theft? Are Black Americans owed reparations for slavery? How should we address the gendered division of caregiving and occupational labor? Do states have a right to control their borders and to refuse entry to immigrants? What are our duties to end poverty and structural oppression? We will address these and other pressing questions in this introduction to social and political philosophy.
