BIO 298 - Principles of Parasitology Principles of Parasitology is designed to introduce students to the field of parasitology and infectious diseases, emphasizing current research on the ecology, reproduction, genetics and evolution of parasites. The course will explore parasites that infect humans as well as host/parasite relationships of species infesting a range of invertebrate and vertebrate hosts. In addition, students will be introduced to basic bioinformatics skills. Taken together, the course is designed to give you an appreciation for the diversity of parasites and their impacts on hosts, while incorporating higher-level thinking to solve open-ended problems. This course is particularly geared towards students who are interested in pursuing careers in medicine (both human and veterinary), public health, epidemiology and wildlife biology.
