ENG 242 - Harlem Renaissance This course entails the interdisciplinary study of literature, philosophy, and the arts from the period known as the Harlem Renaissance. Our inquiry is rooted in the examination of the historical and cultural factors that gave rise to this flourishing of artistic and literary expression among African Americans and their counterparts in the early twentieth century. We will also consider the transnational impact of the Harlem Renaissance and its enduring resonance in the present era, both of which underscore its significance as one of the most prolific eras of American and African American culture.
