POLS 098 - Legal Issues: Criminal Cases from Investigation to Trial This course covers the Constitutional and statutory limitations placed upon the police with respect to searches, automobile stops, pat frisks, and arrests, when conducting investigations. It also explores the intriguing legal principles surrounding police interrogations, the danger of false confessions, a suspect’s Miranda rights, eyewitness identification procedures, bail and pretrial release, the right to legal counsel, plea bargaining, criminal trials, appeals and double jeopardy. This course uses an actual law school casebook and the Socratic method of learning.
