HIST 228 - European Jewish History This course is a survey of the history of Jewish communities in Europe, from the Middle Ages to the present. Topics include the Jewish experience during the Crusades; the expulsion of Jews from Spain; the Jewish Enlightenment; Jews in Eastern Europe and Russia; assimilation and anti-Semitism; the Holocaust and the creation of the state of Israel.
