ARTH 334 - Exhibiting Africa: Past & Present

This course explores the ways in which Africa and its animals, peoples and material culture have been represented by museums and other collecting institutions. We will study how economic, political and social change influence practices of collecting and display and how debates over cultural heritage and repatriation apply to the African continent and its diaspora.
